Living in the Wild

Connection. I love connecting to family, nature, community, and even strangers. I guess why I found myself traveling so much in my life; I have always enjoyed meeting new and especially different from myself people. I’ll as easily talk to a tree, as homeless person. I also have been know to jump ( and encourage others ) into tarns or waterfalls fully dressed, spontaneously. I don’t get embarrassed very easily. I’ve never had a hard time having a random conversation, giving a compliment or helping someone smile. My internet presence and connectivity has been extremely lacking I’ll admit, as it just doesn’t feel natural to me. I failed to say, I’m better and prefer connecting IN-PERSON.

After a big leap, leaving all my old life and marriage of 22 years home behind to move out to Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, I dropped out of sight. I lived in Estes Park alone, with my dog Freya spending some time in the rugged mountains. Except for some random FB posts, you could only follow my WildWoman adventures on my Instagram Livinganddyeing. I continued to work some, doing Jackson Hole shows and a few in Boulder and Vail, Colorado. After a long winter in the mountains, I moved to Ft. Collins for a year, to be closer to an old friend, that spark ignited this incredible second chapter in my life. Instead of traveling so much, my time was spent loving, growing and rebuilding a new Colorado life with my very first childhood love, and soulmate Matthew and his 2 young boys.

I didn’t believe in soulmates, honestly, I just didn’t. He proved me wrong, and is everything in a life partner and more. He is another professional gardener/ landscaper, artist, BIG nature lover, mountain biker, and someone who enjoys all the important things close to my heart. We didn’t waste a minute with doubts or what ifs. We married and quickly manifested and rebuilt a solid life, the life we both really wanted and deserved. It wasn’t easy, but we never doubted in us and our vision. I have a true partner, and am grateful with all that ( growth) came with this process and package.

We bought a magical home off grid, on 40 acres back in the mountains. We are just a beautiful drive up the hill, west of Ft. Collins . It’s living in the WILDERNESS, with only solar and propane radiant floors. We have a beautiful soapstone fireplace, one inside and a pot belly antique stove on our patio overlooking the Rocky Mountain National Park’s highest peaks. We have already built a 4 mile, 1000 ft elevation gain circular single track trail that starts right outside our kitchen door for hiking and mountain biking adventures. Deer, mountain lions and bears (the boys named one “Timmy”) and all the birds, have been really something to behold up here, almost something wild or spectacular everyday. The incredible QUIET though has been the best gift our home has provided.

This eco- friendly home and living in the wild, is a life- long dream for us. Both our earliest memories as kid’s growing up in Michigan’s lakes and woods. We are so grateful and excited to share this life with Matt’s 2 young boys, whom already love nature, mountain biking and love all things wild and free. The benefits of such a gift is just beginning to bloom here in the mountains together, and now that the snow is here to blanket the hills, I’m getting into serious creative binges!

My break from connecting any further then my new family and Colorado tribe will come naturally soon, now that I’m settled in, and my studio is up and running. I’ll continue to nest in my new home, as I am almost finished contracting and overseeing my studio renovation in a separate building on our property. Now I am bursting with inspiration from this new lifestyle, and hopefully we will appreciate a post Covid world birthing soon. Until we meet then, I’m laying low in the wilderness grounding, recalibrating and creating new designs.

I recently separated my Instagram account to having @livinganddyeinlivinganddyeing more for my clothing, and made an Instagram @mountainlivingamongfairies one for my nature encounters and wild adventures. You can still find me on FB and I’ll try and make my presence online and on my website more apart of my life to continue to connect the best I can with my more remote lifestyle. Going inward, but radiating outwards...join me, write, create, get outside, or just celebrate all things wild and free. All practices, attention, experiences and energy has brought us all right here, right now. Oh how everything changes and expands. We can break, or grow, or do both. See you on the path!
